I spend a lot of time reflecting on what yoga is. Daily on Yoga Teacher message boards there are knock-down, drag-em out heated arguments about just that. My understanding of yoga is broad and ever changing. Here in the West, it is often includes postures. I don't believe there is anything inherently magical about any of the poses, but I do believe that when we are fully present during our practice we have an amazing opportunity to really know ourselves, to gaze inward, notice our behavioural patterns (physical and emotional) and decide if what we are doing serves to make us the person we long to be. Yoga can be your daily (or weekly) exercise. It can be your connection to your self. Enjoy your practice for whatever it does for you.
